PROVING INNOCENCE: 9. Search

Suchit tried calling Ananya several times. But her phone had been off for almost an hour and Suchit was very worried. The two girls who were involved with him in this ordeal were probably in some kind of danger.

He reached the office building to check out for Ananya, but he saw no one. The rooms were unlocked, but there was not a single being present to guard this. How could Ananya be so careless inspite of several warnings, he wondered. He searched through all the cupboards for any information, but found nothing. So the documents were either in Ananya's hands or the criminal's. He thought that the police could be involved in this crime just like anybody else, so he wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to call them in.
He continued his search in the other room, where there was nothing but a small chair with a rope on it. There were three doors in that room- one through which he walked in, one leading to the balcony and the third one seemed to be locked. He tried breaking the door with all his power, and fortunately, it did break. The door opened to a safe, which was locked thrice for safety. He tried to break the safe but was unsuccessful in doing so.
Disappointed, he rushed out of the building and drove away, planning his next course of action.

Ishita woke up to a loud scream. She looked at her watch, it was 7:00 pm. For two hours I had been asleep, she thought. Just then she heard another scream. It was the same voice- feminine and shrill. Who else did he bring in, she wondered as more screams followed. Then she heard his voice.
'You bloody, keep screaming. No one is going to come and save you here. You are in a deserted place' he shouted. Ishita had no idea where she was. She wondered why she was kidnapped. He must have found out she was meeting Suchit. She then wondered where Suchit was. Suchit must have found out that I'm in danger, she thought. But would he help? Did he find out about his father? Did he know that I involved? A lot of questions popped up. She felt guilty for keeping silent. She was barely over their break up when she met Ankit in Accenture. He wooed her and she fell for him. He manipulated her way too much and she was incapable to do anything about it. One day, when she heard the truth from him, she was shocked. But he threatened her to stay with him and love him. He said he'd kill Suchit too if she told him the truth. Scared for his life, and hers, she kept silent and played along.
But today, her life depended on Suchit.
She found her phone lying on a table a few feet away from her. She was tied to a bed, which was very heavy so it was almost impossible to get herself to pick the phone. She tried to unlock the chain. It was too strong. As she was trying to get herself out of bound, her phone started to vibrate. An idea struck her mind. Her phone had a great feature of voice recognition and could respond if it recognised her voice. She tried to be just loud enough so the phone would hear but Ankit, who was in the other room, wouldn't. Thankfully, the call connected...
It was Suchit. Thank god, she whispered to herself.
'Where are you? Are you okay?' She heard Suchit speak from the other side of the phone.
The phone was loud enough for her to hear his voice, but he couldn't hear her whispers.
'Ishita. Where are you? Ananya is also missing. Is she with you? Please tell me...' He pleaded, over and over again.
Now, she knew who was the girl in the other room.
Before she could answer to Suchit's questions, Ankit came in. Ishita's heart started to pound as Ankit approached the table where the phone was kept. On the other line, Suchit kept asking for her to reply. Ankit noticed the phone call and immediately threw it out of the window.
'So you think you're smart enough? Is that why I pulled you into this? Eh?' he asked her as he gave her a tight slap.
It pained, but Ishita didn't scream. What had to be done, was already over. In a while, she and Ananya would be saved from this torture.

In the other room, Ananya was tied to a chair with a thick rope that was impossible to break with her strength. Ankit kept supervising her and Ishita from time to time to see if we were upto some plans for escaping. Ananya couldn't see Ishita but recognized her from her talking. The wall between them was so thin that a simple whisper could be heard through it. Ananya had figured out that Ishita tried to contact Suchit and got caught. However, she also knew very well that Ankit was foolish enough to not understand that the phone call could be tracked. He hadn't taken it much seriously.

Ankit was confused. He wondered how Suchit and Ananya had easily figured out the truth. The only person who knew the truth apart from him was Ishita, who was more than scared to reveal the truth to Suchit. He tracked every moment of hers, and it was the first time Ishita was to meet Suchit in years. It was impossible for her to have revealed to him anything. Who else could have given him the clue? Who else... Or what else... He wondered.
Then he remembered. He opened his phone and dialled a number
