This is something i had written for the blog wars event of the cultural fest of my college
We live in a country which boasts off its democracy. Don’t we? Yet, we see a country where people are striving for their freedom, security and not to mention a proper government. We look at our politicians, not as idols, but as sinners. They are corrupt and hideous (There are some exceptions. I respect them). It takes pity to say we live in a country where everything can be achieved by mere money.
What do we need? A war or a revolution?
I’d go for a revolution. It should rather be a revolution by the youth for the youth of this country.
War versus Revolution
Whenever we come by an opposition, the aim becomes “We should win.” When we want to create a change in the country, we just have to think about the change. Not about winning. We don’t need a war out here, we don’t need bloodshed and ugliness, we just need a change. We should also remember that its not important who created the change as long as the mission is accomplished.
It’s the educated youth that should come up into politics and make a revolution and change the country’s future.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has said that Great minds can be found among young people around 20 years. They are full of imagination. And indeed its true. We can see our own college. The students of SRM are so creative that they helped create a nano-satellite. This is just one example. There are so many more examples to show the creativity that youth has got.
If this creativity is put to good use, the country can be recreated. It can be cleaned off corruption, poverty and India can restore its greatness.
What we need in youth today
1. Responsibility : We, the youth of today, have dreams. Dreams to be great and make a revolution. The protests going on in Delhi prove very much that. But what we definitely lack is the responsibility. With age, comes a lot of responsibility. We should understand that. Instead of partying and having fun with the money we got, we could put it to much better use. We should be responsible enough to understand whats right or wrong. Only if we understand what is good for us will we understand what is good for the country. 2. Respect : Respect for the country is the most important thing that youth needs. I talk to different people everyday, I realise that they form different opinions about India. Majority of people have complaints. One old friend said, “Man, what shit this country’s got? I hate staying here because its so untidy.” My reply to it was very simple. What have you done to make it clean? Have you thrown all the trash into the bin, instead of throwing it down on the roads? All the time, without any exception?” The answer was no.
When we start respecting our country, that’s when we know we are good enough to make a revolution. 3. Endeavour: The reason why most people fail in life is that they give up too soon. They dream but they don’t do. They talk but they don’t work. Life isn’t about how long we take to succeed. It’s about what we’ve done to succeed. So the most important thing we need to do is work real hard to get something we want. Yes, we need to try a million times. But each time we make a mistake, we should learn.
Problem today
The main problem that persists today is that we all are scared. We are scared to believe that our country can change. Most of us hate politics. Why? Seeing whats going around in the country, we think that it is impossible for it to ever change. We think, “We’re going to become like them if we get into it, and that’s bad. I want to be rich, but not corrupt” Isn’t it right? Yes, its understandable. But the fact of the matter is that beyond our fear if we go, we could find light. Well, It will definitely be difficult for one person to change it, but one with a support of a thousand others might. Even if we cannot change it completely within a short period of time, we can definitely create awareness and make the world know what is going on. A 10 year old kid who gets inspired by us might bring it on 10 years later.
So, lets do it! Lets create a revolution. Lets try change the country. But before that, lets change ourselves… For our good, and for the others’.
ME AND MY NATION-INDIA
As a young citizen of India,
armed with technology,
knowledge and love for my nation,
I realize, I realize, small aim is a crime.

SONG OF YOUTH
ME AND MY NATION-INDIA
As a young citizen of India,
armed with technology,
knowledge and love for my nation,
I realize, I realize, small aim is a crime.
I will work and sweat for a great vision,
The vision of transforming India into a developed nation,
powered by economic strength
with value system
The vision of transforming India into a developed nation,
powered by economic strength
with value system
I am one of the citizens of a billion,
only the vision will ignite the billion souls.
It has entered into me,
the ignited soul compared to any resource,
is the most powerful resource on the earth, above the earth or
under the earth.
only the vision will ignite the billion souls.
It has entered into me,
the ignited soul compared to any resource,
is the most powerful resource on the earth, above the earth or
under the earth.
I will keep the lamp of knowledge burning
to achieve the vision—Developed India.
